Baby Blanket for YDH

How to make a simple baby blanket for YDH

Ingredients

  • Half of 7 balls of King Cole Comfort Double Knit in whatever colours you like (50g DK for each colour)
  • UK 4.5mm circular pony needles, 60 or 80cm
  • 1 tapestry/wool needle

Method!

Check your tension, it should be 20 stitches and 20 ridges = 4 inches in garter stitch.

With a 4.5mm needle and the colour you want first, cast on 130 stitches.

Knit every row until you have used up about half the ball (which should be 18-22 garter stitch “ridges” [1 ridge = 2 rows]).

Switch to the second colour at the beginning of the next row and knit every row until you have knitted half of the ball again.

Repeat with each colour, making sure to always switch colours on the same side.

Bind off loosely after knitting the seventh colour.

Tidy up all your ends and hey presto!

Size

When finished your blanket should be about 26 inches x 28 inches, the perfect size for the neonatal blankets.
